What d'you think of other Peter Weir works ("Gallipoli," "Dead Poets Society")?

I *hated* Dead Poets' Society... so blah and conventional. I haven't actually seen any other Weir films, but I'm looking for "Picnic at Hanging Rock".

Geh; I'm DYING to see "Picnic at Hanging Rock"! Have you heard the music for it as a stage show? Very intriguing...

If you have time, try checking out "Gallipoli." I'd be especially interested to know your thoughts on the film's music.

This is Mrs. Daryl Zero from Gold Derby. I finally made my way over here from GD a few weeks ago but was only lurking.

I didn't hate DPS, but I agree that I did find it very conventional. I just didn't get all the hype with that movie since most prep school type of movies follow that kind of pattern but didn't get the acclaim.

I also didn't get the hype about The Truman Show. It was a good, solid movie like DPS, but I found the message to be a little too preachy and not subtle at all. It does make me we had more thoughtful summer movies like that one.

I think Truman is definitely a flawed film but I give it major props for exploring themes that no other American BBO films have dared, in ways that no other American BBO films have dared. Its in the lower echelons of my Top Films list but I think its a masterpiece in its own way.
